Generally its not a good idea to sharpen serger knives - and often (unless you had a BIG jam) you only need to replace your upper knife (the lower one generally stays better longer)

I would try taking your serger into a local sewing machine repair store and asking them (another brand may fit) and they can look and see what may fit (often they sharpen scissors too, so if sharpening is the only option, they may be able to do that)

I ran a quick search online and could not find your replacement knives, so i really would try a local sewing machine store to see what you can find (generally replacement moving knives (the upper knife) are not too expensive (under $10 for my serger) the lower knife can get pricier)..

I have never had the "steam bottle" but have purchased 4 or 5 of the silver/black and one red that had a soap dispenser. Why so many? They don't last. Why do I keep buying them? Because I have tried 7 other brands of steamers and none of them have the cleaning power of the Shark so I am hooked. I have however heard more than normal complaints about the "Bottle". So to help you, if possible - did you tell the person who gave it to you? It is sad since this was a gift, does the giver have one? Can it be returned for another? And lastlly I trust it is at least still under the 1 year warrenty so, are you willing to ship it to Shark customer service? They are not user friendly. :- ( Call for return authorization and you have to pay for the shipping. It probably isn't blocked which is what the paper clip would take care of, esp if you haven't used it. It sounds like a safety switch which is preventing it from releasing. This is something that is not home repairable. I'm sorry this isn't much help.

Personal opinion - Don't turn against steam cleaning just because of this. We (husband and I) have been using steam for 4 years for all cleaning (except laundry & dishes), our air is cleaner, there is no residue from cleaners left on everything and it cleans areas that you can't get with a cloth. In those 4 years neither of us has had a cold or flu, and yes we got colds usually twice a year before and flu about every other year. Yes I believe the steamer is the difference. I don't know if it is because it cleans so well or if because we don't have all the other chemicals in our lungs, but we are happy. I buy the steamers from HSN so if they don't work at the beginning they can be returned, if HSN offers the extended warrenty I purchase it. The rest of the time I smile and deal with rude people at Shark.
