Should I get a professional Sewing Machine?
i'm going to be going into college soon, and am looking to get a nice machine to use at home and will use later in my career and life.
What I want to know is how much difference is their from a professional machine than just a standard machine?
I've been looking at Janome, we have 2 Vikings at home, one of them we use often and is really nice, but from the 70s so we need an update. the other one is a standard starter along with our simplicty machine which is also a starter and they both give us problems. I've heard Janome is a great brand to buy. is their any other machines you recommend?
Also i'm going to be selling items on etsy this summer so I need a machine that will make my clothing look very professional, we already have a serger at home too
I sell on Etsy, Artfire and other venues and do just fine with my Janome serger, and my two Brothers...one a low end mechanical one and the other a 40 stitch computerized Brother.
Honestly, most sewing machines are just fine for selling on Etsy and other venues...basically any major brand name machine will do the work, it also has a lot to do with your experience, pattern, fabric choice and of course, how well you sell has to do with your item pictures, descriptions, shop policies, and how well you market yourself!
Good luck!
